High-Speed Busway ~ flexible, relatively inexpensive and functional

MTA is starting a new Rapid Bus program along Whittier/Wilshire and along Ventura Blvd from the Warner Center to the Universal City Station. The Rapid Buses are new low floor, CNG (clean fuel) buses that will stop approximately once per mile, which means they will travel faster than regular buses. The City is working with the MTA on signal priority that can keep traffic signals green to allow buses to go through the intersections, thereby speeding up travel times. MTA will also be installing stations along both routes. The stations will have electronic message signs with real-time bus arrival info. The stations will also have route maps, schedules, and other information.
