MOTION BY SUPERVISOR ZEV YAROSLAVSKY

Substitute for Item #12

I THEREFORE MOVE THAT

The Board direct the Chief Administrative Office and the Auditor-Controller to:

  • substantiate all operating costs associated with the District Attorney’s proposal to re-establish the "roll-out" unit;
  • review and document actual costs of the previously funded "roll-out" unit;
  • project 1999-2000 year-end fund balance for the District Attorney based on current and projected spending patterns; and
  • document existing and projected year-end balances in the District Attorney’s Asset Forfeiture Fund, including $900,000 in revenue received during the past two months.

I FURTHER MOVE THAT

The District Attorney be requested to re-establish the "roll-out" unit using the following sources within his budget:

  1. Available fund balance within the Asset Forfeiture Fund;
  2. Any revenue associated with federal or state grants that may become available; and
  3. Any existing spending capacity within the District Attorney’s budget.
