October 7, 1997 MOTION BY SUPERVISOR ZEV YAROSLAVSKY
The Special Conditions of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) Program require approval of a joint spending plan by the City Council and the Board of Supervisors. The joint spending plan must then be submitted for approval by the Department of Justice prior to obligation or expenditure of program funds.
I, THEREFORE, MOVE THAT THE BOARD:
1. Close the public hearing to consider the two-year Joint Spending Plan for LLEBG Program funds approved by the Los Angeles County/Los Angeles City Local Law Enforcement Advisory Board on Monday, September 29, 1997.
2. Approve the two-year Joint Spending Plan for LLEBG Program funds, and instruct the CAO to prepare and the Chairman to sign the 1996 and 1997 spending plans for submission to the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs.
3. Instruct the Chairman to sign the LLEBG follow-up information forms, indicating the status of the Countys original allocation amounts.
4. Instruct the CAO to work with the Auditor-Controller to make any necessary adjustments to the budget in accordance with the Boards decisions resulting from the public hearing, following approval of the Joint Spending Plans by the United States Department of Justice.
5. Instruct the CAO and the County Counsel to develop and the Chairman to sign an agreement for transfer of funds from the Los Angeles City LLEBG allocation in accordance with the two-year Joint Spending Plan.
