Yaroslavsky Announces Board Approval for Westlake Village Library Agreement – Board of Supervisors Chairman Zev Yaroslavsky has announced approval of a 10-year lease agreement for the County of Los Angeles to relocate and operate its Public Library in modern, expanded quarters provided by the City of Westlake Village. The new building will offer some 11,000 square feet of office/library space - nearly double that of the old Las Virgenes Library, which will be sold and a portion of the proceeds shared with the City of Westlake Village to help fund the new library. The deal calls for the City to maintain the structure and site, while the County maintains the equipment. The new regional facility will serve both the City of Westlake Village and adjacent unincorporated areas with the same level of services and staffing. For further details, click here.

Home Health-Care Workers Win Health Benefits – Chairman Yaroslavsky announced Board approval on January 8 to extend health coverage through the County’s Community Health Plan to some 6,800 uninsured home health-care workers who provide support services for the elderly and disabled living independently, but who are unable to care for themselves entirely on their own. Yaroslavsky hailed the Board action as another milestone in his continuing effort to improve wages and working conditions for the County’s 70,000 home health workers. Campaign Finance Statements Now On-Line – Yaroslavsky has announced that per his motion approved on December 4, 2001, the County Registrar-Recorder's Website is now posting non-judicial County candidates’ campaign finance statements. Click Reg-Rec campaign reports to access the information.
