YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM PLANNED FOR KANAN ROAD TUNNEL

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced Board approval of a $98,690 contract to City of Industry-based L.A. Signal, Inc. to replace the lighting system in the Kanan Road tunnel about five miles north of Mulholland Highway in the Westlake Village area.

"The new lighting will increase visibility and safety for drivers on this mountain road," Yaroslavsky explained.

Eight bids were received for the project, which will be administered by the County Department of Public Works. The high bid was $169,336. A portion of the project will be financed with Federal funds.

Work is expected to begin in February and take 35 working days. Traffic may be mildly disrupted during the contract period.
