YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS SHERMAN OAKS SOVIET EMIGRATION ACTIVIST HELEN LEVIN TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMISSION

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has reappointed Sherman Oaks resident Helen Levin, Executive Director of the Association of Soviet Jewish Emigres, to the Los Angeles County Consumer Affairs Commission.

"I'm very pleased that Helen has agreed to continue her service on the Consumer Affairs Advisory Commission." Yaroslavsky said. "She's done an outstanding job over the past year, and a real friend to consumers."

In addition to her work on behalf of Soviet emigres with the City of West Hollywood and others, Levin’s other activities include serving as a council member for the Bureau of Jewish Education, and membership on the Jewish Federation’s Valley Alliance Board, and the Women’s Advisory Council for West Hollywood.

Duties of the 15-member Commission include advising the Director of Consumer Affairs on the needs of consumers regarding policy, programs and legislation, studying and reporting on matters referred for its review, and reporting annually to the Director and the Board of Supervisors about its activities.
