YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS SANTA MONICA RESIDENT CHARLES "BUD" HAYES TO COUNTY BEACH COMMISSION

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has reappointed Santa Monica resident and coastal advocate Charles "Bud" Hayes to the County Beach Commission.

"I'm very pleased that Bud will continue serving as one of my appointees to the Beach Commission," Yaroslavsky said. "His long track record of involvement with coastal issues has been a tremendous asset to the Commission in their work."

Yaroslavsky noted that for the past 30 years, Hayes has been deeply involved in ocean protection efforts, and is an active member of Heal the Bay, the American Oceans Campaign, the Malibu Surfing Association, and the Surfrider Foundation. Hayes currently serves as Executive Director of the SRO Housing Corporation, a substance-abuse and mental-health counseling agency based in downtown Los Angeles. He has extensive executive experience in the substance-abuse and recovery field, and serves on the Executive Board of the Central City Association, and on the Board of the California Mental Health Association.

Duties of the 20-member Beach Commission are to consider and offer recommendations to the Board and to the Director of the Department of Beaches and Harbors upon beach-related issues.
