YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS KARLEEN A. GEORGE TO COUNTY JUDICIAL PROCEDURES COMMISSION

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has reappointed Hollywood Hills resident Karleen A. George to the Los Angeles County Judicial Procedures Commission.

"Karleen has been a creative and dedicated member of this panel," Yaroslavsky said, "and I'm very pleased that she has agreed to continue her service there as one of my appointees."

Currently the Organizing Coordinator for AFSCME District Council 36, George was first appointed by Yaroslavsky in 1996. She earlier served 10 years as a Superior Court Judicial Assistant and is a past president of AFSCME Local 575, the Los Angeles Superior Court Clerks Association. She was appointed by the Assembly Speaker to the Statewide Trial Court Employee Task Force.

Duties of the 15-member Commission include recommending changes and improvements in court management to provide more efficient justice and reduce delays for litigants. The Commission also helps determine the need for additional judges in Municipal and Superior Court, and analyzes court-related legislation and considers community input.
