YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS LEONARD SCHNEIDERMAN TO COUNTY COMMISSION FOR PUBLIC SOCIAL SERVICES

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced the reappointment of Santa Monica resident Dr. Leonard Schneiderman, UCLA professor emeritus and retired Dean of the School of Social Welfare (now the School of Public Policy and Social Research), to serve on the Los Angeles County Commission for Public Social Services.

"I'm very pleased that Professor Schneiderman has agreed to continue serving as one of my representatives on the Commission," Yaroslavsky said. "As a respected author of several major studies on the County's welfare programs and a comparative analysis of General Relief programs in other jurisdictions, he is making great contributions in the panel's ongoing work."

Duties of the 15-member Commission include consulting with and advising the Board of Supervisors on all matters relating to the provision of Public Social Services, conducting studies and hearings, and reviewing federal, state and local legislation and regulations for potential impact on County programs and submitting recommendations to the Board and to the Director of Public Social Services.
