| April 27, 1999 YAROSLAVSKY CALLS FOR MTA TO MITIGATE NORTH HOLLYWOOD SUBWAY DAMAGE AND RESURFACE LANKERSHIM BOULEVARD Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky today urged MTA officials to mitigate damage caused by subway construction in North Hollywood and fully fund the $1.275 million resurfacing of a damaged stretch of Lankershim Boulevard between Bluffside Drive adjacent to Universal City and Chandler Boulevard in North Hollywood. In a letter sent today to MTA Chief Executive Officer Julian Burke, Yaroslavsky noted that the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Maintenance has attributed the damage to Lankershim Boulevard to subway construction and tunnel grouting carried out by the MTA. "Many of the merchants along Lankershim have been severely impacted by the MTA construction and have complained about the poor condition of the street in front of their businesses," Yaroslavsky wrote. Yaroslavsky asked the MTA CEO to recommend fully funding the Lankershim Boulevard project when the item comes before the full MTA Board this Thursday, April 29.
