| April 21, 1999 YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS WOODLAND HILLS SCHOOL PRINCIPAL TO PORNOGRAPHY COMMISSION Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced the reappointment of Woodland Hills school principal Michael B. Bennett to the Los Angeles County Commission on Obscenity and Pornography. Yaroslavsky first appointed him in March 1997. "I'm very happy that Mike has agreed to continue his service as one of my appointees to this panel," Yaroslavsky said. "As a seasoned educator in the community for nearly 35 years, he has the experience and perspective to deal with this issue effectively, particularly as it affects our young people." Bennett, a resident of Sherman Oaks, is the Principal of Francis Parkman Middle School. A former teacher at Hollenbeck Junior High School for many years, and a teacher advisor and assistant principal from 1987-1992, Bennett has also served as Vice President for the United Teachers of Los Angeles. He is also active in the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles and the Association for Jewish Educators. Duties of the 15-member Commission include assisting the District Attorney, the Sheriff, the County Counsel and the Superintendent of Schools in their efforts to curb the publication and distribution of indecent and pornographic material in the County, and to enlist support among state legislators and community organizations for legislation and programs in the area of pornography and obscenity.
