YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS SHEILA D. WRIGHT TO COUNTY COMMISSION ON DISABILITIES
Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced the reappointment of West Hills resident Sheila D. Wright to the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities.
"I'm very pleased that Sheila has agreed to continue serving as one of my appointees to the Commission," Yaroslavsky said. "As a concerned parent, community volunteer, and active commission member, she has demonstrated the kind of commitment this panel needs for its efforts on behalf of our disabled community."
Wright's experience includes service as past Board President of the North Los Angeles County Regional Center; Project Director for the Northeast Valley Health Corporation, a non-profit community health provider; Board member for the Los Angeles Unified School District's Advisory Board and Shared Decision Making Council; and as a parent advocate for the Rancho Del Valle Parent Support Group.
Duties of the 17-member Commission include advising the Board of Supervisors on the unique needs of people with disabilities, recommending improvements in policies, systems and procedures to advance the interest of people with disabilities, cooperating with other public and private entities serving those with disabilities, and evaluating and suggesting disability-related legislation.
