YAROSLAVSKY NAMES L.A. FREE CLINIC’S JULIE JASKOL TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY HIV HEALTH SERVICES COMMISSION

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has named Julie Jaskol, a resident of West Los Angeles and Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the L.A. Free Clinic, to the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV Health Services.

"I’m delighted that Julie will be serving as one of my two representatives on the Commission," Yaroslavsky said. "She has a long history of involvement on behalf of health care for the indigent, and the L.A. Free Clinic has been a valued low-income community health provider for more than three decades. Her insight and judgment will be a tremendous asset in the Commission’s work."

Yaroslavsky also noted that the Free Clinic is one of the County’s leading public/private partners in efforts to significantly expand walk-in health services throughout Los Angeles County.

Jaskol previously served as Press Deputy for former Los Angeles City Councilmember Michael Woo, and earlier as a journalist for the Los Angeles Independent chain of community newspapers. She holds a B.A. from UC Berkeley.

Duties of the 49-member Commission include formulating plans for regional delivery of HIV-related health services, establishing priorities for federal AIDS funding, and submitting recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on AIDS-related matters.
