YAROSLAVSKY REAPPOINTS TOPANGA RESIDENT AND T-CEP FOUNDER PAT MAC NEIL TO VECTOR DISTRICT
Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has reappointed Topanga resident Pat Mac Neil, founder and chair of the Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness, to the Los Angeles County West Vector Control District.
Mac Neil, first appointed to the District by Yaroslavsky in April 1997, has a long history of community involvement in emergency management and other issues, including extensive training and volunteer work on behalf of the Red Cross, leadership in several local PTA chapters and in other school-related activities, and taking part in other civic and charitable campaigns on behalf of the United Way and other organizations. The Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness (TCEP) is a community organization which operates a local Emergency Operations Center, staffed by trained volunteers working closely with the Sheriffs Department and the County Fire Department, which provides reliable information and useful public education services year-round, not just in times of crisis.
Duties of the Vector Control District board include taking all necessary steps to eradicate mosquitoes, flies and other insects within or adjacent to the District, and to abate as nuisances all stagnant pools and other insect breeding areas.
