YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS FOR FEDERAL AVENUE

Board of Supervisors Chairman Zev Yaroslavsky has announced plans to contract for improvements on a stretch of Federal Avenue running from Wilshire Boulevard to 225 feet south of Texas Avenue near the Veterans Administration Center.

Yaroslavsky said the work will include the resurfacing of roadway pavement; reconstruction of curb, gutter, sidewalk, and driveways; and modification of traffic signals. The project is part of the County’s ongoing highway construction and maintenance program.

The County Department of Public Works will open bids on the project March 12.  Work is expected to take 10 working days to complete, being done in June.  Once work begins, Federal Avenue may be reduced to two traffic lanes, one lane for each direction, and a left-turn lane where existing, during daylight working hours.
