January 30, 2001 YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES UPCOMING MALIBU WATER LINE PROJECT Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced plans to contract for the repair and recoating of the Malibu Branch Feeder, a County water line in the City of Malibu at six locations. The water line runs along Pacific Coast Highway. "This is routine maintenance with some minor improvements," Yaroslavsky explained. "The recoating helps keep the line in good condition over a longer period of time." The County Department of Public Works will unseal bids February 27 on a contract to do the work. Officials estimate the cost of the project between $340,000 and $400,000, to be paid through the Accumulated Capital Outlay Fund of County Waterworks District No. 29, Malibu. The project is expected to take 80 working days to complete, starting in May and ending in September. Once work begins, traffic lanes may be reduced on Pacific Coast Highway. From June 1st through Labor Day, lanes may be reduced from the western city boundary to Trancas Canyon Road. All other times, lanes may be reduced from Trancas Canyon Road to the eastern city boundary during non-peak traffic hours.
