YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES PROJECT TO  REPLACE FLOOD CONTROL CHANNEL FENCING

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky today announced approval of plans to replace portions of the channel right of way fencing along various County Department of Public Works flood control channels in the western area of the County.

" We need to replace the deteriorating sections of the five-foot-high chain link fencing in order to ensure public safety and protect our facilities against theft and vandalism," Yaroslavsky said. Among the channels around the County that will receive work is the Tujunga Wash from Vineland Avenue to the Los Angeles River.

Yaroslavsky said that Public Works officials will unseal bids on January 9 for the contract to do the work, which they estimate will cost between $360,000 and $440,000.

Officials expect the project will take 120 working days to complete, starting in February and ending in August.
