April 11, 2000 YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES NEW STORM DRAIN FOR BEVERLY CENTER AREA Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky today announced Board approval of a $674,450 contract to Southern California Underground Contractors, Inc., of Brea to construct a portion of the Hollyhills Drain project in the Beverly Center area. This unit consists of installing a small storm drain lateral in 3rd Street from La Cienega Boulevard to Croft Avenue and in La Cienega Boulevard from Blackburn Avenue to 3rd Street. The County Department of Public Works received six bids on the contract, the highest being $965,830. Yaroslavsky noted that the work is part of a major storm drain project, which has been underway through portions of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. "This project will help protect residents in this area by alleviating flooding," explained Yaroslavsky. Construction is expected to take 28 calendar days, beginning in May and ending in June. To minimize the impact on local businesses and residents, construction will be suspended during peak traffic periods.
