YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES PROJECT TO REPAIR MALIBU SEWER LINES

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced plans to install liners in an estimated 7,300 feet of sewer pipe in Malibu. The work will be done along portions of Broad Beach Road and other City streets.

"The liners will seal minor cracks in the sewer pipe and extend its service life," Yaroslavsky explained. The project is part of the Department's ongoing program for the lining of deteriorated sanitary sewers in order to restore their integrity, and involves the lining of existing 10-inch and 8-inch vitrified clay pipe mainline sewers using polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, or thermosetting lining.

Bids for the project, expected to cost between $205,000 and $240,000, will be unsealed March 28.

The work is expected to take 45 working days, beginning in June and ending in August. Once work begins, Broad Beach Road may be reduced to one traffic lane for both directions controlled by flag operators during daylight working hours. Other project streets may be closed to through traffic during daylight working hours. Local access will be maintained at all times.
