February 1, 2000 YAROSLAVSKY ANNOUNCES SEISMIC UPGRADE FOR GLENOAKS BRIDGE OVER PACOIMA WASH Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has announced that a project will soon be underway to upgrade the Glenoaks Boulevard bridge over Pacoima Wash in the City of San Fernando. The project calls for upgrading the bridge to increase stability during an earthquake, Yaroslavsky explained, as part of a program to increase public safety throughout the State. The work will be performed under a $84,633 contract awarded to M J Contractor of Long Beach, lowest of 11 bids, which ranged up to $217,590. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will administer the contract under the State Seismic Safety Retrofit Program. All project costs will be covered by Federal and State funds. Upgrading the bridge will take 40 working days. Work is expected to begin in April and be completed in June. Once the project begins, Glenoaks Boulevard may be reduced to one lane for each direction during daylight working hours. Traffic and local access may be mildly disrupted.
